Size matters! Believe me..............
I'm in Newberry, Florida. Maybe AHB is causing the problem.
So, the nucs were checked carefully, all cells were culled and new cells were put in. They have now killed about 50% of the second lot of virgins. There is a light flow on. I'm very disappointed...
Oh OK, I thought it was 10 beekeepers and 20 different ways and big argument as to which way is right. I could be wrong however, so don't quote me on this one!
"You can never quite say anything will work 100% with bees."
Yeah and female ones - right!
There are no virgins in the nucs and they do not have laying workers. The nucs had laying queens removed and the 10 day old cells were put in the next day. Almost all the cells hatch and then about...
I have a problem with my mating nucs. I put cells in the nucs and virgin queens hatch from the cells and the 2 days later they are all found dead in front of the nucs. Any ideas to address this...
Do you think that it is important that they bees in a nuc eat the remains of the jelly in the queen cell. Some sort of effect on pheromones between the bees and the new queen?

There are 6,000+ cells per deep frame. The total area of brood is seldom more that the equivalent of 5 FULL frames.
OK tks - the first email was incorrect.
The email address is invalid.
OK thanks! I tried to call Tom, but got a disconnected reply. He had a stroke some years ago, so maybe he is no longer around.
Is Toma still producing machines?
so what is the problem with 666? it is only symbolic
Interesting bees to say the least.
I guess some AHB in the make up?
Were these 9 FULL frames? Or did they have less than 100% brood. I can't imagine 9 frames 100% brood. I have seen many colonies spread the brood over +- 15 combs, but when it is measured it never...
A full depth Langstroth frame with 5,4mm cells has about 3,250 cells per comb face. That is about 6,500 cells per frame. If we have a really good queen pumping out about 1,500 eggs/day then it will...
I cannot see why the extra frame would make a difference to the total area that the queen has to lay in. Studies have shown that a good queen can only use the equivalent of FIVE full brood frames,...
I would like your opinion as to which is best: the use of 9 or 10 frames in the brood chamber. I have seen a couple of opinions and cannot make my mind up. The 10 frame configuration is closer to...
Don't think much of your collection of bird's wings shown in you photos. Is it something you are proud of and want to show off?
Where can I buy 5,1mm plastic foundation?
Does the size of the holes on the JZBZ cages matter? Why was a change made?
Thanks!
