    Re: Second hive swarmed

I bet the Benelli was more fun though Gary. I picked up another small swarm about 15 miles south today. About 3 lbs, but they had a queen.

    Second hive swarmed

I had my second hive swarm Friday. March packages. They settled so far up in the tree I had to use my shotgun to shoot off the branches. It took four branches on three trees but I got them back....

    Re: Queen cells in trap-out

These queen cells must be ripe. I think all of the drones in my yard are at this hive entrance.

Re: Still waiting on April 18th packages

SG12, Seems once they cash the check they are looking for paying customers for your bees. I have read past posts talking about the same thing. They will never see one red cent of my money again.

Re: Still waiting on April 18th packages

Billboard, The club paid the deposit, they gave us a pickup date and the club payed the rest. Then we are installing early April bees in late May! Missed the whole spring flow. I had to add supers...

Re: Still waiting on April 18th packages

JRG13, Is $13,000.00 considered a small order? I know our order probably can't compare with shops like Kellys. All I know is I will never do business with them again.

Re: What do you think, Orientaion or preswarm.

I think it's to late to move them. They have been in that location all day. I will pull a frame of brood from one of the other hives in the morning and put in. Here is a video of the ordeal. Sorry,...

Re: What do you think, Orientaion or preswarm.

Michael, Thanks for chiming in. They swarmed this morning before I could split them. I was able to get them back in an empty hive though. I will post a video when it is done uploading to youtube.

Re: What do you think, Orientaion or preswarm.

No, not orientation. I went out around 9:00 to split them and they were in process of swarming. With some luck they landed in a tree in my yard about 30 feet in the air. I was able to re-capture them...

Re: What do you think, Orientaion or preswarm.

I will setup another hive next to this one. I have never done a walk away split. Do I move the existing queen or the queen cells if I find them? Is it OK to set them side by side?

Re: What do you think, Orientaion or preswarm.

If the weather cooperates tomorrow I will go through every frame looking for queen cells. If I can get them to stay I will have new queens next Saturday. I will split them.

That's what I thought. I did not go through every frame. I did pull a few and looked under both boxes. I did not find any queen cells.

Re: What do you think, Orientaion or preswarm.

I'm telling you all these bees came from that hive. Within 20 minutes 90 percent of them went back in. I watched it.
