    I would spread them out and draw different shapes (in paint) around the entrances. This should improve your success.

    Too me if you are not removing all of the remnants including the bottoms of cocoons you might as well not scrape off. Any diseases or spores will still be there. I think I would just let them go.

    took too long I will vaporize, then pull it out and reseal and move on to the next hive. if you are doing 10 or 20 hives you can't wait 15 mins per hive
