    here in the north it would be sour cherry , apple and ornamental crabapple . only ones that will survive zone 2-3.
    bees hammer all 3 and are nice looking in your yard.

    I agree the only big ones i get like that are from swarms . The queens that have been coming in packages or that i order aren't much bigger than a old worker.

    inspected today and found a nice fat light colored queen and 3 of the 5 frames with good brood pattern.

    Wow , they are CRABBY !

    Had some nuc traps out and went to pick them up for the year yesterday, cool 1 of the 3 has a good sized swarm of bees in it.
    Its hot and humid and bees are really flying...

    between the 2 hives i had 14 frames that still had patches of honey and pollen on them, and about 1/3 their sugar...

    The weatherman said last night 51 days so far this winter below 0 f. , -14f currently with a 20mph wind .
    My poor little bees , if they survive they are some tough buggers....
