    Probably refers to a (usually queenless) hive or colony managed by the beekeeper to build queen cells from grafted or selected larvae by manipulating swarming, supersedure or emergency responses.

    You will need to check at least 300 from the brood nest to get a valid mite count, good luck coaxing and counting one by one---consider a sugar or ether roll. You will learn about this in your class...

    Autumn Olive starting to bloom. Redbud, dogwood, wild cherry, mustard, fothergilla, hawthorn, dandelion. Pears, cherries and crabapples blooming on 4/14 are finished.
