    having pollen doesn't mean there is nectar. i am in MD also. the goldenrod is starting to bloom now, which is a good source for fall nectar

    I know if she doesn't mate after a period of time, she never will. how long will she go without mating before giving up? i'll check again this weekend, hopefully i'll find eggs.

    when I was watching her walk around the frame, she seemed small and the bees didn't seem to pay attention to her. I guess i'll wait another week and have a look.

    I made my own jig to cut them with a 1/2 router with a 1/2 bearing on top.(pattern router bit) I made the jig so that the cuts are symmetric. 9 spaces .736. I cut 2 boards at a time. much faster

    Mr. Beeman- if you take the the box as soon as your done, what about all the bees that are out foraging and still flying around the box, or do you try to vacuum most of them up as you go?
