    I guess that is another regional thing. We've been pretty lucky here in Ks. Haven't really seen much ccd around here. Also a hive can go quite a while with mites giving us a good chance to save them.

    OK. Its still odd that they would die so quickly. Dead brood or were you at least able to save it for another hive?

    Did you find a bunch of be excrement on the outside of the hive? Also, when they were still alive, did the have tattered wings and sluggish movement? Was there any new bees or fresh brood?

    We always treated our bees accordingly. Apistan strips and patty mix in the spring preventatively. The "patty mix" contained Crisco, regular sugar, and teramycin. Then at signs of foul brood or a bad...

    Never used stands. Just built good quality, beefy floors out of redwood from old oil tanks. Never had a problem. Of course we were running 2,500 hives so it wouldn't have been cost effective anyway....
