Thanks for the advice. That sure sound easy!
I will leave them alone for now and report back next week.

This is what I would recommend. I did this to some of my honey supers and they were capped and ready to go before the ones without the hole.
Came out of winter booming, Plenty of honey left, lots of brood as early as march, plenty of bees made it through winter.
Things have been pretty normal until Thursday.
Have a honey super on it...
I hived a 3# package last season and ended up with 2 full supers of honey. They wintered amazingly well and have a super 75% filled right now. Absolutely booming, no signs of swarm yet....
I...
Other suitable woods:
port orford cedar
western red cedar
cypress

alaskan yellow cedar
Cypress is probably the best choice for weatherability, good compromise of weight over...
I have screen BBs on all my hives right now, two without the slider boards installed. One has a slider board installed.
It is supposed to get unseasonably cold at night the next few days. ...

They will come back once. They don't seem to like the #8 the second time.

I saw some drone brood in one of my hives too, but wasn't much, just between the boxes, this is in my strongest colony. There was a strong number of bees, and lots of honey still, good laying...
With 60 pounds of honey in the box, I wouldn't think you need to feed.

They are back up and running. I called and made an order today.

Too high for me. but i read in a book where you can shoot them out of a tree.
I forget where. Maybe the Aebi books?
I removed a colony on free anging comb last week out of an apple tree, about...
I'm located in SW PA, need a cheap 2,3,4 frame extractor. Cheap, clean, and functional is all that matters.
Thanks!
I moved a suffering colony in an apple tree. Combs were completely robbed out. 5 combs, probably 2.5 pounds of bees.
Cut the branch with all the combs and put it in a deep hive body.
took it...

I roll my own too. Except frames. I have a major source of clean cypress that makes fantastic woodenware. I use a full lap joint like those from Rossman. I can make a hive body, super, etc in no...

Got a call today. 7 vertically hanging combs in an appletree with good numbers of bees on it. Guy estimates it the size of a basketball. IN SW PA, we will soon have frost. IT appears these bees...
