    Re: Inspiration to keep going

I think, if you are large enough to make a living, it will not pay to be a woodworker. More time with the bees less time in the shop.

    Re: Inspiration to keep going

In NC if you sell above a certain number you have to be inspected and pay a $25 fee.
I believe the number is fairly low... about 10. You can find the NCbeekeepers.org site with a link under Local...

Re: Should I become a commercial beekeeper?

Maybe we should. Sounds like a lot of lonely beekeepers out there. Something like "BeekeepersMingle.com". :)

I see you have never been in Eastern NC.... :) Course I will admit that Mebane, the neck of woods they are talking about is quite different.

Re: Too many hives at 1 place?

If it is the Mebane beekeeper that I think it is, he is an extremely nice guy, and I have no doubt he did not know where your bees were. He is also a great source of info and help when you need it.

Re: Stingless bees in the Yucatan

Did you run into a "Bad Burrito"? or a "Terrible Tecata"? I know I did when I was down in Colima.

When extraction occurs are the combs left in the little hive, therefore maintaining the colony? ...

Re: Stingless bees in the Yucatan

I believe CG3 had said that the syringe was used for extracting honey. No wonder the honey is so expensive, extraction must be really tedious.

Sounds like it ferments easily..... maybe they sell it in shots?
    Sort of a mead.

$100 a kilo would be about $50 a lb..... guess the locals don't buy much. :)

I guess you have not seen any hanging on the front porch? In my mind, that is the way I pictured them..... sort of a secondary economy of tiny chewey comb sales. You may have to go pretty deep into...

Barry, it does not sound like a classical learning disability to me, one where the neurons of the brain are somehow wired improperly. It sounds more like a phobia, perhaps one of making a mistake,...

That is quite a picture!! Are the dark portions of the pic "Low lands" or "High Lands" - I guess I can assume they are not wet spots.

How about tractors, trucks, bobcats etc... does one generally have a big heated garage or are dip stick heaters enough?

LT is one of Carolina's old time Queen Breeders.... he knows a lot of tricks.... kind of like you.....

Kept them the same way for a month, one time. Really too long, but that is the way it worked out.
