Thanks for the info. I was wondering if you needed something sticky. At least that would make sense. I am going to build me a couple tomorrow.

It is in the 90s with high humidity. I figured that it could only help with ventilation. Would you put the slide in bottom boards back in during the winter time? How do you use the slide in board...
I seen the plans for the IPM Screen Bottom Board this site and was wondering what is the pros and cons of using these? I live in the South and it is hot. Would I be doing a good thing to put these...
2 hives started about a month ago from 5 frame nucs.
I planted an acre within 50 yards of the hives.
My problem is that I am trying to build brood. I started with two new hives no drawn wax except on the four frames in the middle. I wish that I could get some honey, but it will probably be next...
I checked my hives Saturday. Nothing started on the foundationless frames, but they are drawing wax on the black plastic wax coated foundation frames in between them. I left them as they were and...
I just got back checking this morning and they were working it. I will try it for an early fall planting and see how it does. Thanks, for the info beeaware.

My Buckwheat is blooming and I saw a few bees there this morning, but I have not seen any the rest of the day. there are a bunch of bummble bees. What is the deal?
These are only in the brood boxes. I have had them in there about a week and I am planning on opening them this weekend. If I can figure out how to post pics on here I will post some after this...
I bought some of the wedge shaped top bars from Walter T. Kelley and put them in my brood chambers. I put them between the frames with foundation. Is this the way to do it?
They are eating my syrup at a rate of 1quart/day and half. They are also working mimosa, sourwood trees, and white clover. I just started these hives about five weeks ago and they may not have...

Sourwood and Mimosa blooming for about a week and half. I planted Buckwheat two weeks ago and it is fixing to start blooming in week and a half. They are really working the mimosa and...
Try Searching for Vespa crabro this is the Scientific name of the European Hornet and it looks a lot like your photo.
It may be a type of Hornet. I am not sure. We have European Hornets here in the South Eastern U.S. that are a little bit more orange/yellow in color that resemble your picture.
I just got two hives, one was started from a 5 frame nuc and the other from five frames of brood and the guy dumped about 5lbs of bees into it for me. I am starting with all new frames. I was...
