Even with Beequick...they WILL NOT leave the brood unattended.
You could get a lot of workers, but not the money.
Looks like the girls want a new Queen. May be a swarm or just a replacement. My guess from your description is a swarm, because of confined quarters.
Why did you kill the virgin queen?
Sounds to me as if they are trying to control ventilation.
Flow is on the down side.
"Even though the queen were m.i.a the bees filled the broad box with mostly honey and pollen."
Given the time of the year and there was pollen....I would say the queen was not M.I.A., maybe a...
Shake both into the same hive.
Too late for lure.
Dadant is "old school"
There kick some out....Not all but some.
Feeding at this time of the year will not make them go up to the upper, unless it has fully drawn comb. Then they might.
I would use a top hive feeder and put the honey in it.
I am courious...How would you apply this to the girls. Were you thinking of giving them a massage every evening?
Boglehead...if you will be around Lynchburg...I have some.
Are you sure they are Termite's or are they Ant's. How many segements do their bodies have?
Let's see.....August 16th......and you still have a nectar flow?
Don't worry just take the supers off and store them untill next year.
The bee's, just used some of the foundation in the hive...
Luan is a plywood not "masonite". And it will absorb moisture. So inform me....what am I missing? With proper ventilation holes Plexiglas would be fine.
BaconStreetBees has given you very good advice. Do it.
Who said anything about "masonite" other than you, mythomane?
Am I missing something?
I have not and would not....It would make it too easy to look inside. At least for a little while.
I use 1/4" luan. Cheap
Contact Groeb farms.
I wish you luck.
I like about 4 inch's between my hives.
