Re: Could I split my hives like this, in July?

I don't know anything about your area. But in mine the bees seem to shut down in mid july and its difficult to get them to draw comb and make brood expansions. At least compared to May and June. ...
  2. Re: Update on my hives installed package on 4/21 Feel free to give advice!

On insepctions, I 'd peep in in the packages about once a week. I would also move the frames around to get them pulled without messing with the brood area. they rather move up in ten frame equipment...
  3. Re: Update on my hives installed package on 4/21 Feel free to give advice!

Justin I'm in morgan near magoffin. I'd say in the next week your bees will be starting in poplar and locust and start ignoring feed so much. But I'd pour it to them if they keep taking it ,...

Re: Harvest Honey or leave in hive

Djs, I guess it all depends on how much it takes to winter in your aea. It also depends on your extraction methods, your time and how much honey you want to take.

I would at least shoot for a deep...

Re: Super @80% drawn or capped?

I'd go with 80% drawn with nectar, probably would be tempted to add before depending if I could get back soon and what kind of flow is on. What the correct answer?:)

    Re: No Queen

Gabmux, I think what they mean is that it takes a while for the bees to get up to a large enough number to survive the winter. If you introduce a package now and everything goes great it would be a...

Re: How Much Is Your Apiary Worth$?

I was always taught not to ask people has much money or how many cows they had. When asked, I just say too many during the winter and not enough at market time.
