    Re: south or east ?

I face the entrance away from the prevailing winter wind. Which makes them to the southeast.

The plane is a 1939 Piper J4a cub coupe. I currently have one my dad and I restored. We also have a 1940 cub that was used for east coast sub patrol.

Re: To Plant these Plants or not?

I have heard tobacco honey is bitter. I live in KY where a lot is grown. This came from Kent Williams who has several hundred hives. I do not remember bees in the burley tobacco when we topped it....

Re: Where to buy Uncoated white clover seeds

You will need to sow more seed if you get non-inoculated. The seed supplier can tell you at what rate.

    Re: Why Treatment Free.

No don't kiss and make up....this is better than a soap opera. Plus I am learning a few things.
  11. Re: Is creating a Nuc a realistic option during the first year of bee keeping?

I did almost exactly what you are asking last summer. I got two nucs from honey hive farms at the end of May, in deeps, not mediums. I made sure to pick out comb with as much brood as possible. He...

Re: Downfall of Bee Culture (vs. ABJ)

I am a new beekeeper and try to read anything I can on bee's. If I wanted to read about chickens, Tractor Supply, where I got Beeculture has chicken mags too which I do not choose to spend my money...

Re: TED Talk by Marla Spivak

Of course grown up roadsides will mean more car/deer collisions with human injury and deaths. I just planted several acres in prairie grasses and wildflowers. The flowers are very expensive. Almost...

Re: Born to lead or born to follow?

Well sometimes I am a leader and sometimes a follower. But most of the time I don't give a dang. And go off by myself.

Re: A mess in a 55 gallon barrel

Are you planning to tie comb into frames? The one time I have done that, the bees repaired it pretty quickly and now it is full of brood. Good luck with them and I would like to see updates on how...

  20. 4 shb and 3 larvae in bottom oil trap, how much threat?

Let me first say I am new and have learned a lot from this site. I got a pkg from GA at the end of May. I have had the bottom oil pan on all summer and have had a few beetles in it but today I found...

Re: What to plant in field?

Here in Ky our county extension agent could answer that very well. If you have a similar resource they should know your areas plants. And will probably know a little about bees too. I know ours do.

Re: Help me decide the fate of my Queenie

  23. Re: Have any of you heard of 'Ley Lines' that bees are supposedly attracted to?

  25. Re: Have any of you heard of 'Ley Lines' that bees are supposedly attracted to?

For all you nonbelievers....go get a wire coat hanger, cut two 9" or so pieces, put a 90 degree bend to fit your hand. Now go out to where your water line or electric line is and walk across the...
