This is from an old USDA publication, so no worries about copyright violations.

There is a correction table in 'The Hive and the Honey Bee' that can be used. The table in my edition of the book, which I think is still current, is on page 892.
Dianna Sammataro in "The Beekeeper's Handbook" (page 125) mentions nosema as another possible cause of 'k-wing'
25 mph for humans seemed a bit fast to me, also, but it sure does show that speed for sprinters when I checked with Google. In Anchorage the speed limit in school zones is 20 mph. So, anyone jogging...
The 25 mph figure, I think, is actually 25 km/hr. Mark Winston writes:
“the average flight speed of a worker bee is about 24 km/hr.”
“workers with full nectar loads fly at about 6.5 m/sec,...

While sugar water processed by bees it not HONEY, it's also not strictly sugar water anymore either. They do add enzymes and evaporate moisture from it. But, I suppose that's a moot point anyway...
I have the books you mentioned. Apparently I missed those quotes. Thanks for taking the time to look it up. It's much appreciated.

Yes, I agree Ian, too much of...
Maybe it is, but my question was and still is: where are those statements coming from? Have you seen the results yourself? Have you read it in any bee keeping book? Have you seen studies to support...
Hi Matt: I’m curious, too. I’ve heard over and over about starch and bees on these internet groups/forums. Maybe it’s bad for bees, but I’d like to see some real evidence. I started a topic earlier...

There are a few more posts about jam and jelly making with honey in the archives....
should that be posted in the Consumer Reports forum?
Yes, bottle it as soon as you've thoroughly mixed in the seed. Then chill your filled containers so that the honey will set up into finely crystallized creamed honey.
yep, and the people who do buy your hay think that every cent they pay you for it is pure profit to you. some people who purchase honey seem to have that mind set, too. in their mind you have no...

Let’s see if I have this right. During the winter when their revenues have decreased to a trickle, the beekeeping supply companies are supposed to go out and borrow money to buy about a million of...
off the top of my head, i too will say it's probably the paint. i get the $5.00 gallon color mis-mixed paint at the hardware store when i see it. i had a gallon of it once that never seemed to quite...
Bill why not go back and just delete everything beyond Chef's first post?
Well, maybe you could leave my post or two in and the popcorn smiley was good, too. ;)
