    Re: Oxalic acid vaporizer deals

I see the Vorrax for $165 a simple design. A two wire with clamps and a metal rod with a metal cup at the end. Search youtube for a home made. Don't pay too much money for something so simple

    Re: Laying Workers

You will need to shake out every frames at a distance of about 100 yards from their original location. The layer workers are nurse bees (new bees), so they have not taken their orientation flight. ...

Re: Picture of a Virgin Queen

I'm 100% confident she is a queen. I was chasing her, she moved fast. You can sense her regal elegance and splendor. Lol. The thorax and the wings and the way she bahaved are dead give away she is...

    Picture of a Virgin Queen

First of all, it is hard to take a picture of a virgin queen, when you have your gloves on and an iphone . Any way, look at her size in comparison to the workers. They are about the same size. I...

Re: this is a drone cell correct?

Todd, that is definitely a queen cell. If you see a large larva drenched in white goo that is a queen. I would put that frame in a nuc box to start a new colony. I splitted a hive for my friend,...

Re: bad luck or something I did wrong

The queens probably mated and swarmed. It does not take long for a queen to mate if conditions are right. A friend of mine checked his queenless hive with a capped queen cell last Sunday evening. ...

Re: A Tale of Two Hives - Tacoma, WA

Search for the queen and add brood from the second hive. Make sure there are drone capped cells in the donated hive. The ladies seem to love the presence of boys to work harder.

Re: Is full shade Ok ?

In the winter you might want full sun, wrap in black tar roofing paper and just shield the side facing north.
  14. Re: Burr comb inside top feeder - need advice on removal

  15. Re: Burr comb inside top feeder - need advice on removal

I have those on my feeders and I don't bother with them. Let it be. I only feed them once or twice and not prolonged.
  16. Re: A Virgin Queen Was Among The Bees In a Package Of Russian Bees

Okay, I check both hives today. The Russian queen that came in the cage was laying and the queen that came mingled in the package is no longer a virgin. She got huge, almost double the size and is...
  17. Re: A Virgin Queen Was Among The Bees In a Package Of Russian Bees

This maybe true, because some bees looked like Italians (redish look) and were slightly smaller that the virgin queen.
  18. Re: A Virgin Queen Was Among The Bees In a Package Of Russian Bees

The bees and queens are tiny. Even the caged russian queen looked like a virgin italian queen. The relevance is that the virgin queen is almost the same size as an adult worker bee.
  19. A Virgin Queen Was Among The Bees In a Package Of Russian Bees

This weekend I installed a Russian package, and when I shook out the package I noticed a bee that looked like a queen crawling into the frames. The package came with a caged queen as well. After, I...
