Re: Excessive drones and swarm cells

Putting another super on isn't always the answer to giving them more room. You need to open up the brood chamber.

Re: Can I remove a swarm in the dark?

I do it all the time. If you don't want bees crawling up your pant legs, tape them shut though. I don't tape mine up and I get stung a lot when I get swarms after dark, mostly on my ankles. So if...

    What equipment for 8-frame hives?

What are the options for comb honey systems (ross rounds, bee-o-pac, etc) are there for the beekeeper that has moved to 8-frame hives? Also, does anyone make a pollen trap that fits 8-frame hives?

Sue him for defamation and filing a false report, that should shut him up pretty quick.

The March 5th meeting for KCBA will not be held at the normal meeting place due to that location being used for voting. Instead we will be meeting at the First United Methodist Church on Kingston...

    Re: Marking your Hives

This is just my two cent's worth and I'm just becomming a real sideliner this year, so take it with a grain of salt, but I imagine the odds of finding stolen hives/equipment is slim to none, so...

    Taxes

This year I'm making the move from avid hobbyist to full on sideliner (you can stop laughing at me now, lol), but I'm a little confused as to what taxes might apply, and I figure you commercial beeks...
  10. Re: Requeening colony of bees in a commercial operation.....

I don't know, but if I were those bees I'd be worried about their fate once regeime change occurs. I doubt the next president will be willing to allow them to stay.
  11. Re: Requeening colony of bees in a commercial operation.....

I'm thinking that there aren't that many queen breeders or queens being produced these days, so it can't be 3-4 times a year, I just don't see where all the queens would be coming from. So I'm gonna...

Poll: Re: Who is the best speaker in your opinion?

Alright, I posted a poll, unfortunately the poll only allows me to have 10 options and I had 20 suggestions, so I started with the people that had been mentioned multiple times or that I recognized. ...

Poll: Re: Who is the best speaker in your opinion?

A whole lot of different answers so far. But I'm seeing a couple of names mentioned multiple times. I think I'm going to do another thread with a poll in it once I compile a longer list of names to...

Poll: Who is the best speaker in your opinion?

As we begin planning for the upcomming year for our local association, I thought I'd ask who the best speakers are in the country in other people's opinion. Did you attend a meeting or talk where...

  18. Re: assembling frames (nailing- scared to split wood)

What guage nails are you trying to use? I use 18 guage inch and a half nails for the frames. They do fine, the only trick is to make sure you're holding the nail gun straight with the end bar.

    I...

    Re: 100 hives
