  1. Re: Goldenrod in NC.......Lots of Bloom But No Nectar?

Ditto on eastern Long Island for the goldenrod. some is already spent.

So far Groundsel is drying in the bud stage without flower except in the low areas by tidal creeks.

squarepeg, I'd give them a try, why not? It would be interesting to see what happens and that 7 month trial would yield plenty of useful information. From my perspective, it is not the time to...

  6. Re: Fall Inspection - Single Swarm Cell w/ larvae

Leave them alone. Check in a week to 10 days on that queen cell to see if it's capped. Look for the queen then also.
Many have seen, reported on and written about mother & daughter queens in the...

    all well and good.

I'm using myself (and location) as an example only.
Maybe a 7 month long observation of these queens in another local is all that is needed to see if their mite hardiness is...

I understand the organic acid classification and point you made about it.

  11. Re: Fall Inspection - Single Swarm Cell w/ larvae

take no action. the bees know best.
My first thought is a supercedure cell but it's getting very late for that. I still have drones
here but they are all being ridden pretty hard by the worker bees...

    Re: Mark's new Honey Label

I like that, a market test.
Maybe a limited addition honey jar available only during the month of highest historical honey sales
    and at a premium.

Then add to the label "Protect the Bees, We do."

    Re: Asking questions, dead out

The horse has already left the barn. What difference does it make?

Dead out caused by Beekeeper mismanagement which is the result of non-intervention beekeeping.
