Re: Pollination Off a 16' trailer

I can only speak for blueberrys, I have heard tales of northern apple pollination where the grower wants you to aim the hive at certain trees....LOL.

Down here with the tiny flow and summer heat,...

Re: Pollination Off a 16' trailer

Around here 20-24 would be normal. I have placed 75 in one place, so more or less the norm.

Pretty much whatever your imagination and engineering skills can come up with. I have seen pictures of some interesting European ones, often times they are stacked on top of each other. I should...

    Re: NYS Apiary Inspector 1

Pretty sure. Must be a Typo. It does not make any sense if not. Why penalize the small guy? Of course I have no idea of what kind of logic goes on in NYS bureaucracy.

    Re: NYS Apiary Inspector 1

My o My.... they must be really clamoring to get that job up in NY. That sounds like a boat load of restrictions for a small salary, maybe if they were talking big bucks..... still... I wonder if...

    Re: Queen Bank for 12

That's odd... I bank mine on top of queen right hives and have had no problems. Sometimes keeping them there as long as 1 month. I do spray them with sugar water occasionally.

    Re: Southbound 2012

No I would not do it either, but my bees are not making brood nor are they pollen starved. His colonies will soon be much more populous than mine.... and should consume a patty pretty fast....or...

    Re: Southbound 2012

Mark's bees have probably been relatively pollenless since sometime in Sept, arriving here they were also broodless. WIth our avg temp of about 70 degrees I suspect they are producing ;brood...

    Re: Mark's new Honey Label

Bill.... I know Mark knows all those maxims, but I believe he is suspicious that they may not apply as they once did. Will it help the "Organic/Health Conscious/Natural" people see this as a unique...

    Re: Mark's new Honey Label

Edgy product, edgy picture. People who seek out raw honey don't seem to be cut from the standard mold. I think it works!

    Re: Storing capped honey frames?

I don't know. I just know that in this land of high humidity if you do not keep the dehumidifier going full blast in the honey house you will wind up with a mess....

Re: What Percent of Hives Are Feral vs Kept

Is it "Wrongheaded" for a husbandryman to treat for parasites. If my flock of sheep has worms, should I not drench them.... or should I let them die and select from the emaciated survivors?

Re: What Percent of Hives Are Feral vs Kept

"The bees are all going Extinct, right?" - I get asked that all the time. Or maybe, "Are the bees dead yet?", and sometimes, "What will we eat when the bees all die?" Most people seem to believe...

    Re: A Question about Splits
