    Re: Top feeder sealant

If you can find it, get the type used on aquariums. Probably find it at a larger pet store. That said, I use silicon also and haven't seen a problem yet.

Welcome to BeeSource! Go with two hives if possible, if you have extra equipment for catching a swarm that's always good also.

    Re: 8 Frame hives

What size are your nucs--vertically? Deeps (the box not the frames) are 9 5/8", Mediums are 6 5/8", not sure of shallows since I don't use them, guess is 5 3/4". Do you have a set of 6 5/8" frames in...

Re: Installing Nucs in an 8 frame deep

I would only put the three, one on one side, two on the other side of the nuc frames. Be sure to put the nuc frames in the same order, same direction (front to front) as they were in the nuc. Once...

Re: 8 frame deeps and supers

seapro220-you keep quoting me as saying "2-10 frame deeps equal 6-8 frame mediums". Go back to entry #5, line 3. What I said was "10 fr equals 1 1/4 8 fr. You would need 6 med 8 fr to equal 2-10...

Re: Pollen Feeding for Brood Stimulation

Try smaller patties--like 1/4 of a pattie at a time and add another 1/4 as the bees eat it. They should be able to eat it before the hive beetle become a problem.
Temps should be 50F at night to...
