  1. Re: Is Pollen from last Fall still nutritious?

Keep it cold - either put it in your freezer or keep it outside in the hive for now while it's cold out. Pollen is protein, and it does degrade/denature and lose its nutrition.

    Re: Hi from Massachusetts

4 8-frame mediums is roughly equal to 2-deeps - which Middlesex County (to the North of you) recommends as the minimum to leave for the bees.

I'm getting some 8-frame boxes for new hives, and I'm...

Re: Eco Wood Treatment: Who Has Experience?

Eco Wood Treatment is utter crap. Lost 8-10 boxes which warped, cracked, and/or pulled apart ant the finger joints.

    Caveat Emptor.

An expensive lesson, but I'm going to stick with the tried and...
  7. Re: How young did you get your kids involved?

    My daughters are 9, 7, 4 and 1.5.

The oldest three will suit up once in a while, or watch through the back window (the hives are only a few feet from the house). I have some fresnell lenses from...
  8. Re: Oxalic Acid ... soon approved for use in beehives

What's the OW survival rate with OA use in different countries? How effective is it? Do you have any hard data to look at?

    Thanks,

    Re: Swarm traps

How many frames of old comb do you usually use (do you fill the trap entirely with old comb?), and how many frames do your traps hold?

Do you use a lure of some kind?

    Thanks,
    Tony
