Re: I'm such an IDIOT at times

    Ray,

Every time I make a mistake like that, I just think of Ollie's beekeeping skills and I feel so much better about myself. Try it sometime!

Re: My Ant Proof Hive Stand Actually Works!

I screwed those cleats on so I could lean them back to check for swarm cells. They also look very nice!

Re: My latest incredible invention - the BBWAB

I'm thinking about buying this professional beevac for Ollie so he doesn't embarrass himself showing up to a cutout with the contraptions he's "invented".

Re: My Ant Proof Hive Stand Actually Works!

    Soar,

Don't pay attention to Ollie. He gets really jealous if I come up with something he hasn't thought of. His only claim to fame is that he came up with these goofy hive handles he screws onto...

Re: My Poor Man's version of the Charlie Ant Proof Beehive Stand

Fill them completely. Your caps are larger than you need and the grease may gradually run down the pipe. That's the reason I use small caps to keep the grease in. You may have to put some screen in...

I think you have a weird obsession with plants.

    N

Anything would be an improvement over those stupid BB trees!
  12. Re: OK Charlie, Fire Away...Old Man Funky Beekeeping At Its Best

I have to applaud your spirit Ollie. Impressive ingenuity on your part. Don't Warre' hives have a device to feed bees or are they by nature meant to either guarantee swarming or death?

Re: My Ant Proof Hive Stand Actually Works!

    Soar,

Use a Forstner bit, not a hole saw. PM me your email address and I'll send you a power point on how to make one.

    Re: Coleman cooler swarm trap/nuc

    Gee Ollie,

Is there no end to your bragging? I caught a total of 22 baits but had less than half of the traps out that you deployed. I'm just a humble retired public servant so you won't see me...

    Re: Question about Eucalyptus

    Marsh,

I feel for all the Yankee snowbirds who can only stare at their hives all winter wondering if they're alive or not. In our neck of the country, it's nectar flow all year long! $$$$$$$$

    Re: Discouraged newbee

That's a little harsh Ollie. You must be one of those "Get off my lawn" kind of beekeepers.

    Re: Question about Eucalyptus

In San Francisco, we rely on eucalyptus for our fall and winter flow. Usually most supers are full in February.
  20. Re: Tired of plastic honey gates but I won't spend $999 on Maxant bottling either. Id

I like ML's plastic gates. They hardly ever drip.

Re: My Ant Proof Hive Stand Actually Works!

I buy 1 3/8" wooden closet rods at Home Depot. Cheaper than buying dowell material in the lumber section. They have a closet rod that's coated in white pliable plastic that protects the wood from the...

    Re: Help moving Swarm Trap

Ollie has to put out 65 traps every year to make up for his loss rate of nearly 100% at his varroa farm he calls his main bee yard.
