  1. Re: How to get a hive out of a wall without dismantling it

You could do a "trap-out" to capture the bees without opening the wall. Trap-outs may get the honey out of the eves, but will not remove the wax comb.

You may find these trap-out threads useful:...

    Re: bone-head split

Perhaps you could explain how larva eat bee bread?

Larva are not exactly mobile - they are stuck in their cell.

    Re: bone-head split

    Brood doesn't eat pollen.

Brood eat royal jelly, which is what the nurse bees are for - to produce royal jelly.

    Re: Sliding woodenware problem ...

Well, 1/8" slope per linear foot is good enough to meet plumbing code for drainage, maybe your hives could get by with a little less tilt.

If you can't use a rock for a weight, how about setting...

As you have a top bar hive (no frames), rubber bands may be difficult to use. Alternatives include bending some fence wire into a U, then hooking one leg of the sideways U over the top bar and...

Well, bees are eminently saleable. :) Selling some bees will pay for new boxes!

  16. Re: Pottery wheel modifications for an extractor.

I don't think ordinary 5 gallon buckets are big enough for this design. The ones I measured are 11.25" at the inside top, so two standard medium frames (6 5/16"+-) will not fit 'opposite' each...

Re: Sulfur water for making syrup?

Bees do not use water to make honey. Honey is essentially dehydrated nectar. Bees often use water to dilute stored honey so they can eat it.

Potable water is fine for humans and there is no reason...
