  1. Re: What's a fair price for a frame of brood and bees?

I have seen $15 to $20 per frame, But like others have said, try to get in good with some local beeks and you may never have to pay again other than paying it forward.

Re: How important is it to find the queen?

I usually stop after seeing good patterns in eggs, unless I need to make splits or to see if she was replaced.
I figure if I keep pulling frames looking for her the odds of killing her increase.

    Re: applying beeswax to plasticell

Same as everyone else, I paint it on or rub it on.

I have a small crock pot that i melt wax in,$3 at a second hand store.
  4. Re: When do you guys feel comfortable not to wear protection?

I wear gloves, not so much because of being stung but because my hands peel and crack whenever I'm outside.
I wear a veil 90% of the time except when I'm checking hives in the winter.

    Re: Plastic frame rant

My mentor will run either all plastic or all wax in a box, it is so they can not choose one over the other.
On my hives it all depends on the bees,I have some that will draw it and others will not.
