Re: What type clover to plant?

I agree with Mr. Bush. A variety will always be better.
A variety of plants that also flowers at different intervals
giving your bees a longer more natural food source is best.

  4. Re: Do you really need to register your Honey house with the FDA?

If your bees fly over the fence and sting the neighbour's
dog are you now going to be labelled a terrorist?

    :ws:

    Re: Good Breeders in Canada?

I guess is your Szabo Queens crofter.

I like his green hives. Hard to see from far away if they are
placed in a field of grass. I like seeing bees drink water like
at 1:26 in the video link...

    Re: Our Gene Pool

Requeening every second year instead of every year would reduce the
inbreeding by half. Although, from what I see most beekeepers do it every
    year.

Those are nice queen cells. The closeups
also nicely reveal the fuzzy grey hairs on
    the bees.

Re: Anybody keeps Carnies in Fl ?

They look like hybrids if they are carniolans at indiansummer honey farms.

Carniolans are supposed to be much darker than those.

This site below has real good info on real carniolans. They only...

    Re: Evolution.....

All I know is that in the old days they used to burn a witch when things got really bad. :lpf:

I bet if breeders had 5000 different races of honey bees to breed from today.

    Re: Florida BEEKS Wintering BEES

I may not have bees yet. My conclusion after reading and

If all your worried about is genetic variation. Cross every bee race

  17. Re: What is the best advice when building a bee vac?

If you had a way to reduce the vacuum with a screened valve in the intake hose.
Like a Y in a pipe for plumbing. I bet you could regulate the vacuum power. Just
keep closing the valve until you...

  20. Re: Is Artificial Insemination: Feasible for Small Operations?

You are right Adam. We do need more breeders in Canada.

from Europe? If they are I am aware of it.
