    Heat will also render it ineffective, so when mixing with sugar syrup always allow your syrup to cool to room temp before adding the fumigillian.

    In a good area with constinat honey flows, yes you will make a decent crop with forty hives to a yard...but I like to hedge my bet alittle bit and only place 20 hives to a yard...:)

    They could produce that much in a decent year, but not packed together in just a few yards...you need to spread them...

    I have a water cooled mold that didn't cost anyways near $4500...about a third that with shipping included. After about an hour with that mold, you'd wonder why you wasted your $325:rolleyes:..

    The plastic pf120's from Mann Lake have worked well for me, don't need to put any additional wax on them either...I have some of the hsc plastic frames(not the fully drawn ones) that do need to have...

    When I want to scrape off the topbars of the frames during an inspection, I just givem some smoke and scrape along behind them. Never had any real problem with them moving out of the way:).

    Keeping five frame hives is just more labor intensive...been doing it for 4-5 years as a standard. It works well, they make as much honey as a full size hive if managed properly, plus they will also...

    I did this with 51 3 pound packages last spring and it worked great. I placed the queen cage, then shook them in, put a second five frame empty box on top, with an inverted feeder jar. Didn't loose...
