I like it thank you
Make sure you remind them that it is Raw, Healthy, pure, sweet, and what ever else you can think of to put it in their head to use honey on their dishes.
I would have a couple case ready for them...
Did you built those hives? Do you have a set of plans I really like those, I have been looking at building some that look like that.
I am just up the road from you at St Marys GA.
Do you make your own supers? I am trying to make some that are not dovetailed. Where did you get your plans?
These are all over my sun flowers here in south GA

How do you think dipping plywood nucs and traps would do? Maybe hold up a littel longer than with out or just painted? Does it seem to seal the ends of the wood good?
Do you think it is too late to start a hive in south GA.
I just moved down here and want to get back into it. I will feed them this fall and winter.
I am liking the warre type hive and thought...
I think I learned the same way.... You might want to put away your tanks of gas and matches... :-)
Your kids are right it is a wolf spider. Yes probable a Rabid wolf spider because of the area that it was in and the pattern on his back. Hey a bee hive is free food for that guy.
I am sure that...
Yeah they could have been checking the ground for minerals I think there is a Hive around the trailer somewhere. I guess if I put a trap out there maybe I will catch a swarm.
Alright then Plywood hive bodies it is, I will post some pictures as they come.
Yeah I thought about making a few of those but What says that I cant make a few standard size bodies out of the plywood? Make them the same way you would make them out of soft pine.
Nope everything was pretty dry and there was a river less than 30ft from where I was.
Alright I got some spare 3/4" plywood that is left over from another project. Can I make a hive out of it? Of course paint the outside?
If not I guess I am going to make a heavy beevac for cutouts....
Alright it is not Miner bees, It looks like small darker color honey bees. There was hundreds flying all around, about 3 inches off the ground.
Does anyone have a miner bee photo. I tried to Google it but got nothing but Honey bees.
I am not even sure they are not honey bees but I need to check first. There was hundreds of them fly a few...
Hello from St Marys GA. I am from KY as well, I own a house in Franklin KY. Most my beekeeping comes from Morgantown KY.
Good Luck to you and yours
Shawn Hines
I put 2 2" openings in the one I build, they seemed to do fine in it without any other vents.

I didn't harvest from this one this year. I thought I would let them build it for themselves. I did how ever rob a little from them. I enjoy the comb and I think my daughter does too.
I would...
Just remeber that they are easy to build with the basic wood working skills. I built mine for a total of about $10, everything else was just scrap wood laying around. The tools that you really need...
I have had a few combs come off in the past, i just retie them up and the bees do the rest.
As for inspections, the comb in the pictures is very new 2 weeks and they had already pulled 9-10 top...
Crush and strain mostly. I tried to uncap them but kind of hard when you cant slide the knife down the sides of the frames.
I crush it up and strain it though some wide screen then I strain it...

Just a quick question. If I hive my top bar hive this weekend, how long till you think that I will have some honey to harvest?
How long till they start some good comb?
Do you think I should...
