    It's pretty common on hot days for bees to beard on top of the bars under the gabled roof in our hives. I don't worry too much about it. If you've got a screened bottom, you could try adjusting that....

    Thanks, Acebird! Oh, the tricks of television! My son is now 7 months old...and occupies most of my time. I filmed Shark Tank in Sept 2014! He was born a couple weeks after filming.

    At this point we've made well over 100,000 of these bars and they generally work very well, both in our own hives and those of our customers. I've not had better luck with longer/steeper angles....

    Any type of hive can swarm a lot if it wants to. Most hives in Portland, Oregon are Langstroth hives, and I get calls every year from beekeepers saying their Langstroth hive has swarmed 2+ times....

    That's the difficulty, of course. Bars/combs that fit the majority of the customer's hives. Many in the Portland metro area use hives made by us, so they obviously fit. Some of them build their hives...
