Check out Brushy Mountain Bee Farms Double Nuc Box. Overland Farms in VT is using this system.
I would contact the person you bought the package from.
Anyone using it and how do you like it?
I'm using Hive Tracks and considering upgrading.
I'm starting down the same road you're on. My recommendation I have is take a good look at a local Small Business Development Center. They can help work you through the business plan. I tacked on 20%...
The electric fence is a good way too go. Since the bear got a taste for your bees- he or she will be back. I would consider putting one hot wire on the outside of the fence exclosure and baiting it...
Are the cans you are talking about metal epoxy lined paint cans with plastic lids?
Did you look in the paint section at Home Depot or Lowe's?
In one of the other posts, Lowe's has food grade plastic pails.
I'm going to be trying out Atlas work gloves. They have a rubberized palm for a good grip. The dexterity is also good. When they get dirty or sweaty you can wash them. I'm pretty certain bees can...
I'm going to be starting with Double Nuc Boxes this summer. The design is a divided deep hive body, except the entrances are on the same side.
I'm looking for feeders for these nuc boxes.
As Mike mentioned above expense will be a big factor. As I developed my business plan I quickly realized I needed to reduce my expansion rate. If you're plan is to make this a business, I would...
I'm looking at the same thing in the future.
Advice and photos would be great.
Used the stapler and the jig today to assemble over 200 frames.
I picked up a nice Porter- Cable 18 gauge Stapler and Compressor for under $200 on Amazon.
A couple of new sites I'm looking at either have full sun and full force wind or less sun and less wind. Our strong winds in the front range come out of the SW.
Right now I'm planning for full sun...
Anyone been using the Mann Lake Frame Feeders?
If so, how do you like them.
Has anyone compared them to Brushy MTN?
Thanks I will check it too make sure it's square
Broke down and bought a pneumatic stapler and compressor. I will be ready for all the frames next week. I even built a frame jig over the weekend. Thanks for the advice!
I joined and I will be at next months meeting. Are you near PS? The area I live in is very open so the bears don't like the wide open space. I still plan on a full electric fence setup.
Do you guys wrap your hives for winter? Do any supplemental feeding?
I have been able to get a couple of apiary sites down in the valley where spring comes earlier. How much honey do you produce for...
