Re: Bees building a hive on a fence?

Adrian, I use a large plastic soup ladle to scoop up bees and ladle them into my box. Works fine and my hand doesn't swell up later. :D

Re: Is it normal to see drones?

I see drones the year around. It is true that I seldom have a week without a day or two of flyable weather. That may explain the drones.

    Re: Observation window and condensation

I have plexiglas inner covers on three Langs. Good tool in winter for hive inspection without heat disturbance. Some condensation, increased venting fixed that.

    Re: Dead Drone Pupae

Good question, I have one hive doing the same, otherwise very healthy. I did a complete OA vapor job on this hive in December. Have not mite counted yet this year.

    Re: Inner cover vent opening.

Last year I varied my vent size based on bearding. I did not finish this but could vary the bearding by changing the vent. Will work on this more this year. Note that I live in a hot, wet climate....
