Re: New swarm not building comb

So I checked them today and they had started building some comb. Approx 10% of the 4 frame nuc. I did see some pollen coming in, but no eggs. I did not look for the queen just a quick check and...

    Re: Bees cluster under SBB

Well, I removed them from the bottom of the screens and put them in the hives. One hive had a lot more under there than I thought.

    Re: Bees cluster under SBB

It is not a feeder problem because one hive has a boardman and two have baggie feeders. Do I leave them be or how do I get them into the hive. They are calling for 38 degrees tonight and I do not...

Re: New swarm not building comb

Beeman I know "no peeking" but I wanted to see the rapid building of comb everyone talks about. I will wait a week other than filling the mason jar on top. Rtoney They were hanging from a couple of...

    Re: Quality of my nucs

I am in central Texas and they came from North Texas. I am guessing less than a 100 miles. 120 per nuc is what was paid.

    Re: Quality of my nucs

It was part of a 200 nuc club order. A couple of members picked them up. I am not sure if they cracked any of them open or not. I will get my pics and talk with others in the club and see what they...

    Re: Quality of my nucs

The queen was not still caged, the cage was still in the hive empty, like the hive had not been open since. The bees had embedded it into the comb.

Thanks for the replies. I will take pics. These were purchased through the local club and were $120ish each. I will go into the hives tomorrow and look for eggs and get some pics.

Re: Just did by first cutout, how did I do?

I put on a feeder today. How long will it take the bees to repair the comb and attach in to the frames. I do not want to mess up all of their work when I go looking for the queen or eggs in a few...

Re: Just did by first cutout, how did I do?

I just went out to survey my handy work and noticed two or three pounds of bees massed under a piece of plywood I had used to kneel on earlier, so thinking maybe the queen was there I shook the mass...
