    Re: Queenless?

I've had 2 established hives that came up queenless. I don't know what is happening to them but there are no signs of a queen. Has anyone else seen this happen this year?

    Re: Hornets !

I had a problem with large hornets eating my bees. I got a electronic bug whacker and ran it at night only. In a matter of 3 weeks we killed over 400 hornets. That stopped my hornet problem.
  3. Re: I have an old Hive that is a mangeled mess

I appreciate your replies and help. I think I will try the brood chamber between the two old ones as you suggested. Thanks again.
  4. Re: I have an old Hive that is a mangeled mess

The comb is evidently messed up because you can't get the frames out. They are doing good as is although one of the brood boxes is in bad shap and needs repacing. I'm sorry I didn't have a camera...

Re: Fire Ants - Resistance is Futile

I had a weak hive that I was babying to get them up to strength. I had to move them because of robbers in my bee yard. I placed them on a stand with oil in cans supporting all 4 legs. I thought they...

    Carpenter Ants Took Over Hive

I had a small colony swarm Saturday afternoon. I eventually caught them and put them in a five frame nuc. I started checking my hives to see where the swarm came from. Their old hive was empty of...

    Re: Hornets catching bees

Dragonfly, don't put the bug zapper too close to your hives. The light will also attract your bees if they can see it from the hive. I now have electrocuted a little over 200 of these giants without...

Do you feed this mixture straight from the recipe or do you mix this with more sugar water?

    Re: Hornets catching bees

Robert, the hornets fly around the hive and look for single bees that are easy to catch. The bees will be on the bottom board or front of the hive. These hornets are yellow in color with dark bands...

Re: If 2:1 is Good, why not 3:1 or 4:1?

Get the recipe for making candy for the bees. You can make candy and feed it in cold weather as well as warm weather. I saw the recipe on the net somewhere. You could pour the candy in your inner...

I have electrocuted 183 big yellow european hornets with the bug whacker at night so far. I will continue using it until no hornets are found in the trap. I am pleased with the results.:):)
