    Alternative hive body coatings

    Has anyone tried using white Flex Seal spray or any other alternative coating other than usual paint, stain or hot- dipping ?

    Best Aster variety for the Midwest

    I am looking for a good variety for a bee friendly flower garden I am building , any varieties to stay away from or that are recommended ?

    The 2 seedlings have doubled in size and are doing well . I will transplant them in late august to their permanent spot. Seems the seedlings were root bound and needed more sunlight

    Well not much to lose. I will just transplant them in larger pots and hit them with Alaska fish fert ; they are getting solid amounts of rain, and if not good well water

    Well I set my containers out in the garden with 12 plus hours and sun, and well nothing, have not grown 1/2 in 2 weeks

    I second the buckwheat. In my experience ; it will germinate with only 2x rains of 1/4 inch, and it needs very little rain after that. The bees will work it when it is humid and early in the morning...

    Both seedlings are still going. One has 1 set of true leaves the other 2 sets, nice deep green color, but man are they growing slow .

    Black locust is a good honey when it comes here; this yr we will miss it with what looks like is a early dry period. I would plant late summer forage , not spring/early summer producers

    I have had 8 evodia seeds in the refrigerator for 35 days now. I have about 70 days average, to first frost here. Should I try and give them a go and plant them now or just wait till next spring ?
