First year with 2 hives. Both hives still in the nuc. Checked count, and treating with Apiguard tomorrow. One hive has zero honey so we are giving it sugar water.
My question is: If we put in...

    Pump honey?

I prefer glass over plastic bottles. On the other hand, I like the fact I can squeeze a plastic bottle to get honey on my toast instead of using a dribbly dipper or getting a spoon out everyday. ...

Re: Brood pattern ok? (New updated photos added last post)

Yes makes sense. Totally didn't expect to see honey stores gone and not sure why. They have a great bee flower habitat out in the country. Can they get enough to winter over at this point?

    Re: Educate me on swarms

Newbie question: Why do the bees sometimes super cede the new swarmed queen? It doesn't sound very efficient.

    Re: quick locatikn question

Hmmm, not sure how to answer the question about how strong the swarm is. It was our first one so nothing to compare it to? Size wise I'd say it was about the size of the nuc we received.
    We...

Yes, we only have the one hive and yes, there is larvae in cells.

So, we kill this queen, locate a new queen and put it in the hive until she eats her way out of her queen box, right? Is there...

    Re: Not much capped brood...problem?

There are lots of open cells for egg laying right now. They had a lot of brood capped cells and now they are pretty much empty. As for honey...there are maybe 2 frames (out of 10 frames) with 1-1.5...
