    Re: Failing Queens

Very well said. I see this after the bees go south for the winter and when they come back north. Down south I'm instructed to knock them down to singles and feed feed feed and keep tossing brood in...

Re: Question about finding a mentor.

Gee mark all the time taken to post you coulda had fifty boxes built. Lol
  8. Re: Ian Steppler... question re: your blog - shaking down queens

I do the same thing in a sense. Once the hives get up from down south, let them lay a full 2nd box then excluder and shake the bees down. Essentially what your doing is make a huge population for the...
  9. Re: How to deal with backfilling properly and Fast

The quickest way to nip the problem in the butt, get all the brood outta the top box, the one you said is full of honey. Pop that and put a empty
Box under it. Otherwise, remove excluders if any or...

    Re: Anecdotal Bee Losses Reports

So I could do a really good job taking care of 500 hives or do a ok job at 1000. Really good job as in monitoring mite levels and treating when needed, kill swarm
    Cells consistantly, check queens...

Re: I'm done with 9 frame spacers in supers

10 frames will work. However the more hives you have the more of your precious time it takes up. 9 frames will not only make uncapping easier, removing the bees from the supers will be easier as...

    Re: Grafting

We were grafting between 1400-1800 cells every four days during queen production time. Each cell gets a prime. Much easier on the larvae in my opinion. You don't have to struggle getting it off the...
