I guess I am confused. Are the directors corrupt or the Sioux employees? Still waiting on names either way.

Could you give me names of the individual doing this? Past or present.
I would like to get it taken care of.
  4. Re: What is the latest on the demand for bees in the almonds this year?

Send them, there's homes for them!
  5. Re: How hard is it on a hive to make the migration to California from the east coast?

The guys I know shipping in reefers can only get about 300 hives per load do to the large amount of heat the bees produce.
Make sure you hire trucks that specialize in hauling bees and put them on...

Re: Best Forklift for all around Apiary usage?

The attachment above will work good if you lots of time and not very many hives to handle . If you need to move a lot of hives I would buy a Hummerbee.

Re: Labor Cost Overwintering Bees In California?

    3 mediums= 2 deeps
We run a deep and a medium and don't have trouble getting them rented. Lots of bees in the boxes is what growers want.

Re: Paramount Farms buying out beekeepers?

    This is an interesting topic.
I don't see the doom and gloom though? Paramount Farms has 46,000 acres of almonds according to a past post, this is less than 10% of the almond acreage in California....

    Re: Inspiration to keep going

If the above was true you can pretty much rule California out. I don't know any package producers that leave bees out of almonds so they can shake them later, other than to start cell builders early....

Re: What kind of drums to buy?

Open head food lined steel drums with lever rings. A lot of the new drums are light weight be careful of the light ones. Over 40 pounds with ring and lid is a good starting point.

    Re: Buying Hives

It's hard to sell a hive before almonds for $325. It's easy to sell a hive after almonds for $150.
They will rent in almonds for $175. It doesn't always make sense but this is the way it goes.
