    Hi SB,
    In our part of the worls I doubt that bees will glue-up the gap. There does not seem to be as much suitable material around here.
    The issue I see is SHB - they will love the gap as it is too...

    Don't ( feel silly)
    In my apiary I would have access problems as some of the hives are very close together.
    My bees must be different, but if there is even a little honey exposed it takes mine...

    Hi all,
    a friend of mine has gone into comb honey. He sells sections in small plastic boxes....and is looking for a a container which is hopefully clear but environmentally more sound than plastic....

    If the damage is considerable I would put new foundation in it.
    Yes, the SHB loves the brood.
    I have seen hives go from a few SHB to being destroyed in less then a week and have heard from others...

    Sorry about your loss.
    Any comb which is in good condition ( and does not smell too strong of the SHB) can be re-used.
    I would clean the box and air it before re-use.

    Most of Europe uses mostly crystallized honey.
