Re: Made a new frame assembly jig.

    Thanks.
I may just build a smaller one if I have scrape left over from building one to do half frames.
Would be a good item for our annual bee club bbq and auction.

Re: Made a new frame assembly jig.

Most of the time I do. I had it set up on one of those plastic tables to do the video. If I was to hit them while on the table the end bars would end up cracking the plastic....done that a few times.

Nope, it's just regular steel. Had a good coating of oil so no rust yet.

Made a new frame assembly jig.

After finally wearing out my old wood frame assembly jig I decided to make a new one.
It will hold 42 frames for assembly. Works very well.
Here is a quick video of the jig.

    Re: Russians around UT?

CCD is very specific in the way a hive dies off. Just because a hive dies doesn't mean its CCD. Most times its something else. Most Russians are hybrids. About the only way to get a pure line would...

  15. Re: 5 frame deep nuc box or 10 frame deep for a swarm trap?

Neither, but if you are going to use what you have rather than make something new I would go with the 10 frame.

There is some really good info on what bees are looking for here....

    Re: Cardboard nuc box DISASTER!!

Yes the wax melted and the bees were covered in it.

Not sure if it would have been two hot for the combs. Like I said it was in an air conditioned environment the whole time. I could see the bees...

Re: Can someone help with my math?

Here is what I come up with. If you pulled the queens on the 5th it would take them a day or two to even think about starting a queen cells. They will most likely use the youngest larva so I pluged...

Re: Laying worker, how about this...

Queens are already mated. You would need to inspect your have and see if you still have eggs showing up from your laying workers or if they have just about stopped.
