What zones do these trees grow well
I know a man who will be selling bulk bees a little later. If some one out there has a technique on using bulk bees with either mated queens or cells, any and all advice would be appreciated.
Can I preserve the pollen from the moths by using moth crystals...I think it's called para moth from dadant
Thanks for the the responses. I now realize my moth issue is about the frames with pollen, which there are many. Should I just spread the pollen frames to the other colonies ?
I am a small beekeeper, with lots to learn. I have a couple dozen dead hives that still have a lot of honey. Would like to store them for making splits. How to avoid the moths? Any suggestions would...
Mark I have 250 ish. So much to learn, still a very new beekeeper. I am known to ask THE dumbest questions. I find if I dont ask, mistakes are more commonly made. Thanks for all the ideas, some will...

Is there any relationship as to wheather bees can draw more comb with a higher sugar ratio syrup, and when will the bees stop drawing comb? thanks
Very curious as to how many times a year commercial keepers plan to rotate their boxes. I know spring for sure as I helped a keeper rotate last year. Lots of work.
I recently aquired a nice beeyard to overwinter. Owner leases for cattle as well when rain brings green grass. will the cattle bother the bees? If so any suggestions? hot wire? thanks
Thanks for the opinions, I dont think I can afford more loses, I just had a significant pesticide kill and I am a small beekeeper.
There are horses close by so perhaps that is responsible. I will check as I move my bees. I have had bees there since April, no issues. Yards are hard to find and hate to lose this one.
Was approached by a pumpkin grower for pollination, anyone know what a fair price might be?
I just checked a yard where I have 50+ hives and found that all were damaged and at least twenty were suffering from a huge kill. Dead bees everywhere. There is not any ag spraying anywhere nearby...
Thanks, how about feed? I fed syrup, but it doesnt last long. Pollen?

Thanks for the replies, as I said I have alot to learn. could some of you walk me through your procedures of setting up your mating nucs, timing, amount of bees, etc. thanks
Extra bees were added when the cells were placed in the nuc. Ill try pictures. latter. But the cells are chewed on the sides , round holes.
I placed just one cell each. I had about 15 cells and 8 were chewed open. I am very confused.
I am trying to rear my first queens, grafting went fairly well, then cells were placed into styrofoam mini nucs. checked them today and many had holes chewed into the sides. I assume the queen was...
I inspected a yard today and found a couple colonies that appear to be queenless. These colonies two weeks ago were vey strong. Is it reasonable to assume that they may have swarmed and a new queen...
Some of my grafts seemed to be doing well then the bees drew comb on the fully developed queen cell. What's up?
Does anyone have an opinion yet on how successful the new maqs are? Just received mine. And heard some discouraging comments from a local commercial beekeeper.
I just bottled a few honey bears. The taste is very much like a sweet molasses, and is on the dark side. I live in central california. Any ideas what the scource might be. I am told these colonies...
