    Re: Spin Float Drum Puller

Cook n Beals make 3 different models of drum pullers. It may be easier to order one rather than make one.
  4. Re: Cowen 60 Sump In floor or On floor Opinions needed

They make an auger system for those that pulls honey from the uncapper and from the extractor so an above ground sump would be better. Ask Cowen!!!

Re: How would you have responded?

I think it will work if they install the bees into bee tight equipment and not open them until the cells have hatched. Not ideal for the inexperienced.

    Re: Migratory covers

When I build something bee related I want way more than 5 years out of it. I have never used Advantech, but I can't imagine not using the concrete form plywood that we currently build our lids from....
  10. Re: Big population hive . Management to achive that

Umm... the advice to treat all your bees for every bee disease is a bit disturbing to me. When I was just getting into bee work, the guys I worked for treated with tm every time they opened a bee...
  11. Re: Almond Pollination: Would you say there is a legitimate shortage of bees?

What ever the reason, it is good for business when bees die. It creates a higher value for bees all the way around. I don't wish it on anyone though, especially myself!!

    Re: Weight scale exemptions

But who wants to constantly be getting pulled over? So do you even need a dot number? Also do you drive right past weigh and truck check stations?

    Re: Diesel soaked plywood.

I know a large beekeeper that had lids that were either soaked in diesel or used oil. I am not sure which it was. But man did he always have good bees. His pallets were the same. They sure did...
  16. Re: Paramount Farms buys out Headwater Honey (David Mendes)

Maybe you guys didn't read the whole article?!?! These arrogant guys plan to start a beekeeping training program to promote beekeeping careers for college students!!!! Umm so when I retire they can...
  17. Re: Paramount Farms buys out Headwater Honey (David Mendes)

I look forward to learn how to keep bees from Paramount farms. I am sure they will save this industry!! I can't wait to sign up for one of their classes!! Boy oh boy!!! Beekeepers have been losing...
  18. Re: Economics of pollination for distant beekeepers

Costs us 6k for each way, so 12k for a round trip in trucking out of east Texas. Think about the Florida guys!! Lol
  19. Re: Need Advice Using Single 10 Frame Deeps For Almond Pollination

One of the guys we send singles to pollinates exclusively with singles. He sets in around 20000 hives. The other guy I send singles to sets in both singles and two box hives but very much prefers...
  20. Re: What are your thoughts on plastic covers for 4 way pallets

Sounds to me that you should design a reversible lid and paint one side black and one side white.

    Re: comerical beekiping in ky

I costs a lot to get started on a commercial level. If one were to buy out a modern 1500 colony bee outfit it would surprise me if it were a penny less than 500K. The bees, supers, trucks, forklifts,...

Re: Getting bees ready to head to cali

Yes, I get 145. So if the broker/beekeeper that sets them in and handles everything on that end gets 25 then the grower would be paying 170.

For our singles, we only need a 6 frame average. May I ask what you are getting paid for an 8 frame average single?
