    I had 2 softball size swarms in a thaw horn tree yesterday alone. They stayed there for 3 hours and where gone.

    Looks like drone brood to me in pic 1 & 2 and alittle honey in pic 3 .
    What you should be doing the first year is learning how to keep them queen right and alive.

    I use 4.9 cell all plastic foundation and frame in the brood chambers and 5.3 plastic foundation in wooden frames for my honey supers. It's all I know.

    Do you treat for VARROA? I had 2 hives do the same thing in SEPT. 2012 from VARROA .
    How old are your hives?
    If you don't treat I bet it's VARROA.

    Check and see if there making QCs.
    And if they are pull the queen wait a week and tare all the QCs down and then put her back. I have one I'm doing that with right now and they where bearding bad....
