  1. Re: So I was wondering what pollen my girls were bringing home......

I can't find it but there was a post on sending honey samples to a lab to see what pollen was in it. Do y'all know the name of the lab or where to have that done?

Re: I think I doomed this Queen!

I bet she just went bad they would have moved the nest for her if she was able to lay. A queen not laying is often times small enough to go through an excluder. I would smash myself. Probably time to...

what is the name of a lab to send honey to find out what kind it is? And do they tell you all the sources they find and the percent or just the most common one?
  8. Re: How to ask neighbors not to spray pesticides?!

    That's great. :lpf:
You mite want to ask to let you know if they are going to spray. Like you want to know so you can watch for damage to your hives. Make them think. But i like the 2 jar approach.

Re: Bees drawing comb between supers

Sounds like the bee space between boxes is not correct. You can scrape it off but unless the space is corrected they will build more. The easiest way i have found was to lift the hole box and scrape...

Re: New beekeeper needs swarm advice

Re: New beekeeper needs swarm advice

This one is probably an after swarm. So i would give the virgin a couple weeks to get hardened, orientation, and mated and laying. Then check for eggs. Should be good to again. I would pop the top and...

Re: New beekeeper needs swarm advice

How long ago was the first swarm. I am thinking this one may bee a after swarm with a virgin queen. Which would mean you have another virgin in the hive.

    Re: Advice for my hive

If you have queen cells you probably have a poorly mated queen. I would go through the hive look for a small queen. If you find one smash and put the new queen in. I would leave the cork in and let...
