    Re: Mark's new Honey Label

Bill.... I know Mark knows all those maxims, but I believe he is suspicious that they may not apply as they once did. Will it help the "Organic/Health Conscious/Natural" people see this as a unique...

    Re: Mark's new Honey Label

Edgy product, edgy picture. People who seek out raw honey don't seem to be cut from the standard mold. I think it works!

    Re: Storing capped honey frames?

I don't know. I just know that in this land of high humidity if you do not keep the dehumidifier going full blast in the honey house you will wind up with a mess....

Re: What Percent of Hives Are Feral vs Kept

Is it "Wrongheaded" for a husbandryman to treat for parasites. If my flock of sheep has worms, should I not drench them.... or should I let them die and select from the emaciated survivors?

Re: What Percent of Hives Are Feral vs Kept

"The bees are all going Extinct, right?" - I get asked that all the time. Or maybe, "Are the bees dead yet?", and sometimes, "What will we eat when the bees all die?" Most people seem to believe...

    Re: A Question about Splits

I like to be sure I don't move the queen with the split, hence the use of a QE..... some care about this... some don't.

I like to move the old hive out and place the new split in it's place in...

Re: shipping container for super storage

My shipping containers have a couple of vents, which I have blocked up, because I use the containers to gas comb. When I open the container after being closed for a long time.... I do see...

    Re: If Not Almonds...

Not trying to be a smart alec but I would imagine they spend a lot to time migrating to areas where pollination is in demand. Maine, NC blueberries, etc.... I would also imagine there are...

    Re: Watermelon pollination

Whatever you do, as soon as the flowering is over, get the bees out of there. SHB love watermelon fields. Rotting watermelons are very attractive to SHB. The concentration of SHB around watermelon...

    Re: commercial beekeeping

    Re: commercial beekeeping

One suggestion. Instead of taking your bees to GA in Nov, bring them to SC. Then in March, cross the border and pollinate blue berries. At the conclusion of Blueberries, head home to NY. 10 hives...

  23. Re: Swarm moved into honey supers. Suggestions needed.

OK..... what would be a reason for doing that? I'm always ready to learn.

Little editing... eh. Well that is different.... you can't extract that stuff can you?
  24. Re: Swarm moved into honey supers. Suggestions needed.

Yup on BeeSource it would. Four full supers could easily be $300 of honey. Therefore it seemed odd that one whose "Occupation" was beekeeping would throw away that much money..... hence the...
