I guess that would be smaller than the ones I got from Mann Lake 3 years ago. I have 2 Jenter cages, one I bought from a beekeeper used (Never) & the Mann Lake. The used ones cell cups do not fit in...
Michael,
I tried to use it two years ago. It was in a hive for several days. I put it in a thriving hive (middle of brood nest)for at least 8-10 days about two weeks ago. I took it out doing splits....
There isn't a way to upload without getting a "photobucket" account?

Being how that they draw out the cells in the cage, suppose you only wanted to use 10 of the hundred cell cups.
Would it be a pain to clean the cups if you let the brood hatch a few batches?
got queens coming today tomorrow, splits shortly there after.
I don't know how to post pics.
The cell cups are much smaller.
mine is in the middle of a deep frame with yellow rite cell. They have been drawing out the rite cell.
I will check today to...
This is my first time w/Jenter system.
I have 2 of the queen cages. 1 I bought that must be way older, it has very small cell cups. They do not fit in any of the cell cup holders. I would really...
Would you say that it would be dependent on how many frames of brood would warrant X amount of supers?
I have no problem w/3 @ a time.
Thanks Matt. look forward to some "fun".
How old would you say this larvae is? fifth row down in center being the youngest I can see.
someone posted that if they're in the shape of a "C" they're too old.
"You could also try putting three Nucs in your long hives. But numbers could increase quickly!"
OK & there's a downside to that? what is "quickly'?
I will have 4 boxes to play with......that...
pulled queen after 24 hrs....no eggs. guess the week in the hive didn't get the cage to her liking. gonna spray w/syrup, try again after a couple days.
Matt, When you say "Merge", you remove excluder?
Any variations for other 3 boxes?
Aggressive maybe, guardedly enthusiastic!!
did they remove them?
Lauri,
Do you cut the cells down to graft or graft out of a full depth cell?
If you cut the cells down, how do you do it without crushing in the cells?
Making the starter today. Will keep you posted.
I caged a queen today & expect to loose her tomorrow.
Is there anything wrong with putting this cage in a queenless cell starter until the eggs hatch, then pull cups & attach to bar, & re-insert...
Matt,
Ya think you could tell me the beginner steps. I have 10 queens from Weavers coming on the 21st (thanx Lauri). I don't want to goof up.
I have 2 30 frame boxes finished & 2 more started....
Kilo, Dude you eat coffee right out of the can don't you? ;-p
Good link Graham, Thanks.
I bought a Hova-Bator incubator for Queen rearing. It didn't come w/instructions.
Anyone know how to adjust temp to 90°-93°?
David,
Can you inspect too often?
I like Deans configuration. I am wondering if frames of stores flanking the cell bar & stores overhead would be a good way to go.
What is your pollen...
Great vids Lauri. I am going to use screen top feeders like you have.
Do you use them in your cell starters? Do you have a favorite recipe for your cell starters?
I have not seen any post that states how long the drying time is before frames can be used.
