    It is a case of maths. If the queen lays 2000 eggs per day (a good queen), bees live 6 weeks (42 days) plus 21 days to hatch the maximum number of bees could be 122,000.

    Yes, they could be crowded. If you are shutting them up, you will need to keep them cool. If they are jammed in they may suffocate. Put another super on to give them room.
