Re: What is pollination on shares?

You can't be serious?? Payment made to the bee owner?!? I would say the first 50 lbs goes to the honey producer then the next 50 goes to the bee owner. Any remaining is split. If you send junk that...

Re: Sweet clover and the snow?

Haha I wish I am still stuck here in eastern sd. I think I am behind by a week. But it hardly matters because it rains everyday in east Texas so my brother doesn't have any bees congregated. Plus it...

Re: Sweet clover and the snow?

I will head out to western sd to assess the damage if any very soon. We have gotten a bit behind due to all the rain we have received in all the places we have bees. On another note, the breeders we...

    Sweet clover and the snow?

I guess I was wondering if anyone out there could tell me if sweet clover can take a snow and/or a hard freeze like down to the mid twenties? Or if there was snow would it protect the clover from the...
  8. Re: Where do you take the bees after almonds if you summer in Montana or Dakotas

We bring them back to east Texas... but it's full. Hahahaha. Just joking. East Texas is a great place to grow new bees.

Re: Spring on the West Coast.

I love beekeepers!!! It's hard not to brag just when talking regular ole bee talk... there isn't anything I can add to this thread except some cynicism.

    Re: Wax Rendering

The guys in Dixon Ne charge about 50 cents per pound. I would cry if someone took half. Then Dadant picks it up on trade for 50 cents more over their cash price, so it's a wash.

Re: requeening / making splits on 4-way pallets

Also if you have large entrances, you should use an entrance block and push the flight to the outside of the pallet. Then you can get to over 90 percent take. And if they are to big use cell...

    Re: Too much rain

Most of our bees lost weight in the almonds... and we need to get them out and fed before we even worry about splitting them... finally it's drying out. I think it's mostly wet because of how cold of...

One of my beekeeper friends tells me that this product is now called apicare. I can't find it online, just the cosmetic product. Either way the guy I know that is using it claims his bees look great.

Liquid sucrose off the truck weighs 11 lbs per gallon vs 11 1/2 per gallon for hfcs. One has to calculate that into the price. To me that's like just watering the hfcs down more...

  25. Re: Cowen 60 Sump In floor or On floor Opinions needed

They make an auger system for those that pulls honey from the uncapper and from the extractor so an above ground sump would be better. Ask Cowen!!!
