Looking for a queen bee prefer a mated one. anyone have some for sale?
jealous of your crop!
good luck
This is our first year and we have one super that is filling but not capped at all yet. I'd says it is half full of nectar or more.
Think they will have it ready in two weeks? Give or take of...
when looking in one of our hives we found that the bees have half filled / wax capped most of the brood nest with honey, while the super has about half filled but nothing capped.
is this normal...
3 hives. 2 I'm 2 deeps and 1 in 3 meds. All new hives this year. No treatments.
thanks joan, we shall see if there is any honey to extract. ill keep you in mind if we do.
i really have to up my botany skills.... i dont know many plants.
what was flowinga couple weeks ago seems to have stopped. the hive is consuming honey that they stored to build out new comb up top and not much coming in. Lots of new orange and yellow pollen...
it would appear from the discussion above that the general theory is that you can reuse comb without harmful side effects, however it is probably prudent to replace every 5 years or so on a partial...
for people who use an extractor and save the comb - to be replaced in the hive. how often do you get rid of said comb? i have read about pesticides building up etc. Is there any truth to this /...
with the nation wide drought i would not be surprised if there are a lot of people in the same boat
pigeon mtn has the same ability to post on here as anyone else. the OP was a fair account of the facts (assuming it actually happened)
fermentation is directly related to the availability of wild yeasts to do the fermenting. you could always take a jar and dump some nottingham yeast in see if it ferments.
southern ct is going to get smoked....
Seems our flow has slowed a bit. What's the prospects?
Awesome. Be we're able to get a queen from billlbee. I think we are going to try his vsh queens to requeen 1 hive that isn't doing too hot.
man Adam i wish i knew about the extraction demo.... does ur club or anyone you know rent the extractors?
cant help you with the flow times but just fyi, they will always take sugar. make sure you stop feeding if a flow does start as you dont want sugar / water / honey
Yes I love my Gilman nucs. 1 is doing great. 1 is queen less but still hanging on. A package we bought is pulling up the rear but didn't get that from Gilman.
Thanks jack. Gilman is who I got the bees from in the first place
you should have stopped and asked him
like the title says, we need a queen. located in ct so hoping for something of a northern queen.
we had the hive make queen cells but it looks like she failed to mate or come home as there are...
