    It's possible, but it really looked more like "slits" in the cappings rather than them being scraped off fby pulling up the frame.

    immature drone larvae partly uncapped

    Drone Larva is partly uncapped in many drone cells. The larva is immature; It is full size, but looks very milky and not mature enough to emerge. Any ideas what is happening?

    horizontal hive with regular frames?

    Any suggestions for beekkeeping with a bad back? I'm thinking horizontal hives may be the best to avoid heavy lifting. Can you use regular frames in a horizontal hive instead of top bar?
