Will do beeman
Woo Hoo. Got permission today to take this baby.
All top bar hives now (3)
Leave them their honey so I don't have to feed
Only use bees from swarms or local cut outs I do
Starting some Lang foundation less hives in the spring...
Painesville here. Starting another out yard in middlefield in the spring. Glad to help out. I am treatment free and use only local stock. Good luck
Very cool Mr. Beeman. I am hoping they are alive in there. Keeping fingers crossed.
Definately Nazi's. I meant long
Yeah. Lots of pretty queen cells. And I will definately post more pics.
I have no idea if they are in the hollow or even how big it is. Definately going to wait for warmer weather and the 3' of snow around the tree to melt before doing anything. Whatever I end up doing...
So I saw this on my way home from work. The pics don't really do it justice, this hive is huge. I would estimate the combs at 4-5' London and at least 3' deep. It's about 20' up. Didn't see any signs...
A pic of the TBH on the deck. The girls tucked away far a long winters nap
Welcome from another Ohio beek.
Sounds like you are on the right track.
I second drlonzo on the idea you might already have some good feral bee genetics available. Maybe look into a trap out....
I am leaving for three weeks on Monday but anytime when you get back you are welcome to come up. I am in painesville right on Lake Erie.
I am a first year beek about an hour north of you. I presently have three TBH. I would be happy to have you up to check them out and see if maybe you want to go that route. I was in your position...
Use the link cryptobrian left in his reply. Super easy
Thank you. Very helpful.
I have top bar hives and was wondering about how much a fully drawn and capped 17" top bar would weigh. Trying not to go out and buy a scale for a one time use, but would like to estimate how many...
Thanks ed. Yeah he uses survivor stock with Vsh traits. Looking forward to working with him. Don't worry about your tangent. I found all your information very helpful and thought provoking. Tangent...
I have your book and do rely on it quite a bit. I am using tbh now but think I can incorporate that info successfully.
Thanks everyone. I think the thread got a little bit off what I was looking for. I live in a rural area on an acre. The closest neighboring home is about 50 yards away and all the neighbors have been...
Sent a request tom. Great pics. Would love to chat sometime.
Thank you everybody. The hive on the back deck hasn't been a problem until today. We don't use the deck and it is fenced so the bees are sequestered from the neighbors. I thought that with the bee...
Thanks. I was thinking that also, but I am a bit aggravated that I can't even go outside right now.
We live in northeast ohio and are first year beeks with top bar hives. We have three hives now that have come from two cut outs and one swarm. The swarm hive has always been a little more aggressive,...
Love my bee kool from blue sky. A lot more reasonably priced too.
