    Welcome Jen,
You purchased your bees from fine beekeepers. A friend bought over 150 hives from them and is very pleased.

    Re: Research Project on CCD

The term "CCD" has not been well defined that I can see. Therefore, it does not help you state a clear hypothesis. Your lead educator should help you to refine a clear hypothesis and then construct a...

Welcome Brightbee. You should get acquainted with your local beekeepers association. There is an excellent group in Walworth County.

    Re: bear attacked

Suit up, light your smoker, smoke them and restore the hive to proper orientation. Time to but an electric fence up to protect them because the bear will be back.
  14. Re: bee venom collecter device with remote controll

My fingertips are excellent venom collectors on my clumsy days.
  15. Re: bee venom collecter device with remote controll

Why the remote control and not just have a switch outside of the hive? Looks too much like a triggering device for an IED. They are just honey bees and I imagine you don't leave it on very long.
  16. Re: Found my bee of choice 0 mite counts and treatment free.

Were all three varieties started the same this year from packages or were the Russians and NWC from overwintered colonies?
  17. Re: Feeding candy boards or cooked sugar bricks in winter

Beware the advice of someone with a modest experience history and a piece of paper when they are in the business of selling you bees to replace those that might starve for want of said brick. I value...

Re: Insulation in ziplock for inner cover

No, the plastic keeps the bees from chewing up the EPS foam. The EPS insulation keeps the bottom of the lid warmer than the walls. Moisture condenses on the cold walls as frost and runs down to the...

Re: Lapp's sell individual frames of Honey Super Cell

Sadly, after many years they closed. The owners were getting up in years and turned the business over to the son. The apiary side took a series of tough hits. That is all I have heard.

    Re: New from Michigan!

Welcome to the group. I grew up on Lotus lake and went to school in Clarkston back when many of the roads were dirt. Oakland County is beautiful except for the area inside wide track drive.
