    Re: Unusual Scene in BeeYard

If there was usurpation going on what would be the proper way of controlling it? Would it be the same measures as robbing?

They probably thought there was an usurpation going on. How about just a frame or two of brood with some nurse bees. Does the queenless hive have good stores of honey?

Some people do with a stick (like a wooden match stick). Need to let them dry for a time before being returned to the hive from the odor.

    Re: Robber Screen Entrance Question

I agree, just make the entrance away from the smell of the entrance (through the screen). When I'm being robbed my entrance gets put down to 1/2" by 1/4" or less.

Your bees are a lot stronger than mine then if they can lift one side of the hive up to create a space for an exit. Or really, really small bees...

Re: Robber Screen and drone removal.

Yes, they can still evict the drones with the robbing screens on. I believe it's better to have the robbing screen on and not need it than not have it on and need it.
